A new course at Joseph priestley College has given young people who would not normally choose to go into education, employment or training a new set of skills to help them succeed in life.
The SAIL (Succeed and Achieve in Learning) project runs for 12 weeks and is designed to raise learners' confidence and skills to use a springboard to other opportunities such as employment or full-time courses.
The skills covered within the course are: interview and employment skills, teamwork, communication. literacy. personal money management, drugs awareness, health and safety and creative artwork.
On completion, learners achieved qualifications in work skills and have destinations planned either in college, apprenticeships or employment.
The college is now looking forward to the next cohort of learners due to start in September. For more information contact Ian Barker on 0113 3076 002.
